Today, we're proud to officially launch the first phase of our highly anticipated testnet, featuring our breakthrough microchain technology designed to overcome the longstanding challenges of scalability and true decentralization. Linera’s microchains offer an advanced solution to the limitations of existing blockchain architectures by enabling exceptional scalability without compromising decentralization or security.

A New Era of Decentralized Performance

Traditional blockchains face a tough trade-off between speed and decentralization, often leading to high fees, slow processing, or reliance on centralized components to maintain performance. Linera’s microchains tackle this problem directly. Like lanes on a highway, these lightweight, parallel-running chains each handle their own transactions, allowing traffic to flow smoothly and efficiently across the network. This architecture is built for high-speed applications in gaming, AI, and finance, setting new standards for blockchain infrastructure.

Our vision is to bring real-time scalability to Web3 without sacrificing security or user control. Web3 should be as fast and accessible as Web2 while delivering the core values of decentralization and user ownership.— Mathieu Baudet, CEO and founder of Linera, former Meta/Novi team lead

Innovative Testnet Features and ZK Technology Integration

Linera Testnet Archimedes reveals the full potential of microchains with a shared validator set that enables secure cross-chain communication and scales effortlessly with network demand. The next testnet phase will soon include a web wallet extension and a token faucet, allowing users to experience the Linera ecosystem firsthand.

Critically, Testnet Archimedes brings zero-knowledge (ZK) technology to the platform, partnering with Argument.xyz to integrate the Lurk zkVM. This advancement offers developers tools to build privacy-focused applications on Linera with cutting-edge cryptographic security, opening new doors for interoperable and privacy-preserving Web3 applications.

Redefining Blockchain Infrastructure

With our microchain architecture, Linera is setting the stage for a more efficient, scalable, and user-controlled Web3. As our founder put it perfectly: "Linera envisions a future where Web3 is as agile and scalable as the internet itself."

Archimedes Launch Space

We’re hosting a live Space on X/Twitter to discuss Testnet Archimedes, our roadmap, and the partners contributing to the release. Join us or listen to the recording at linera.io/archimedesspace

To celebrate, we'll issue a POAP for all who attend, as well as tiered versions for those who have specific chains based on activity on our Discord.

About Linera:
Linera is the first L1 blockchain infrastructure for real-time applications. Linera was founded with the vision to empower users with globally accessible, decentralized technology that supports seamless and secure onchain interactions, no matter where they are in the world. Its unique architecture lets users interact directly with small chains of blocks, called “microchains”. This allows applications to read and write onchain data with strong guarantees of performance and security, for any number of active users. Founder and CEO, Mathieu Baudet, holds a PhD in cryptographic protocols, was an early research engineer on the Meta Libra/Novi project and is a coauthor of the FastPay protocol.
