Linera is partnering with Staex, a pioneer in trusted data telemetry and decentralized networking, to bring real-world data validation onto the blockchain. Together, the two teams are setting out to prove how Linera’s microchain architecture can handle live, high-frequency telemetry data at Internet scale, beginning with something tangible: a fleet of connected city buses.
Scaling the Real-Time Internet
Staex has long focused on bridging the gap between physical and digital infrastructure. Its TrustedChain platform enables devices, from industrial sensors to transportation fleets, to communicate securely and reliably without relying on centralized intermediaries.
Linera’s real-time blockchain is designed for precisely this kind of world, where thousands of independent actors, agents, and applications need to process data simultaneously and with sub-second finality. Through this collaboration, Staex will use Linera’s microchains to ingest, store, and verify telemetry data directly from live urban mobility systems.
Testing the Future: 1 Million Transactions a Day
In this initial integration phase, Staex and Linera engineers will deploy a live telemetry rollout across ten city buses **in North Rhine-Westphalia (a federal state in western Germany), stress testing the system under conditions of up to one million transactions per day. Each bus acts as a data source, continuously sending performance metrics, location data, and diagnostic updates to the blockchain.
The goal is to demonstrate how Linera’s microchains can scale horizontally, distributing load across multiple parallel chains while maintaining real-time responsiveness and verifiable trust.
“Staex’s work with Linera shows what’s possible when real-world systems meet real-time blockchain infrastructure,” said Mathieu Baudet, Founder of Linera. “It’s a powerful example of decentralized technology serving practical, everyday use cases.”
“Linera’s blockchain technology accelerates the adoption of Web3 across industries. Its microchain architecture provides Staex with the parallelism and reliability required to manage thousands of critical edge devices in near real time,” said Paksy Plackis-Cheng, Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer, Staex. “Few Layer 1 solutions can deliver this level of scalability and trust; capabilities that are essential for securing our customers’ telemetry and CCTV data within a Trusted Data Chain.”
Why It Matters
Most blockchain architectures struggle to handle the throughput, latency, and reliability demands of real-world IoT and DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) applications. Traditional single-chain systems introduce bottlenecks and central points of failure that limit scalability.
By contrast, Linera’s microchains operate as lightweight, independent chains that can process transactions in parallel, ideal for dynamic, data-heavy environments. When combined with Staex’s TrustedChain telemetry framework, this architecture unlocks a new layer of trusted, decentralized coordination for machines, cities, and networks.
Building Toward Production and Ecosystem Visibility
Following successful testnet validation, the collaboration will move toward a production deployment across 100 or more city buses, accompanied by a joint roadmap highlighting scalability metrics and performance benchmarks.
Stay tuned for future case studies, ecosystem reports, and live demos, bringing visibility to how real-world infrastructure can benefit from blockchain technology purpose-built for real-time data.
About Staex
Staex is a decentralized software that ensures secure connectivity for devices and machines. Developed originally at Deutsche Telekom’s R&D, Staex allows enterprises to build resilient networks in minutes—not months—across operations, partners, and customers. By providing near real-time access to trusted, verifiable data, Staex unlocks AI-driven insights and Web3 monetization. Bridging legacy infrastructure and enabling data automation turns fragmented machines into value-generating assets.
