Atoma Network and Linera Partner to Advance Decentralized AI

Linera, a high-performance blockchain protocol designed for hyper-connected, real-time applications, and Atoma Network, an open-source decentralized AI cloud focused on privacy and verifiability, are excited to announce a strategic partnership to push the boundaries of decentralized AI. This collaboration will notably bring Atoma’s AI inference network into Linera’s microchain ecosystem, enabling developers to build highly-scalable AI-powered decentralized applications with verifiable privacy and trusted execution.

“Bringing decentralized AI compute to blockchain applications is critical for the next evolution of Web3 applications,” said Jorge Antonio, Atoma CTO & Co-Founder. “With Linera’s microchain architecture, we can provide seamless AI integration while maintaining privacy and security at scale.”

Solving Key Challenges for AI in Web3

The integration of AI into blockchain applications has been hindered by key challenges, including privacy risks, scalability issues, and limited verifiability. Traditional AI models rely on centralized services, exposing sensitive user data. AI inference is too computationally demanding to run on-chain, and off-chain AI-generated outputs lack trust and transparency.

By leveraging trusted execution environments (TEEs), a decentralized compute network, and a novel consensus mechanism, Atoma ensures privacy-preserving, verifiable AI inference.

Linera is the first L1 blockchain based on an unlimited number of parallel chains, called microchains. The microchain architecture enhances both scalability and interoperability, allowing AI-driven applications to interact with an unlimited number of active users while communicating easily with external data storage and web services.

How Linera and Atoma Work Together

This partnership provides developers with:

  • Confidential AI computing through Atoma’s SDK on Linera (adapted for WebAssembly), enabling seamless integration.

  • Scalable AI-powered dApps that leverage AI inference for automation, data-driven insights, and enhanced security.

  • Optimized blockchain operations, as Atoma operates its own microchain on Linera as a block producer, efficiently propagating blocks and contributing to network scalability.

Additionally, Atoma’s inference can be performed directly on the client side, reducing reliance on on-chain computation while maintaining privacy and efficiency. The team has created a demo showcasing this integration, demonstrating how developers can seamlessly leverage Atoma’s AI within Linera’s microchain ecosystem.

Bridging On-Chain and Off-Chain Intelligence

Beyond AI computation, Linera nodes will verify real-world data before sending it to Atoma’s AI engine. This is a game-changer for decentralized AI applications—especially for AI agents that need verified, tamper-proof data to make accurate decisions.

“Developers need scalable AI compute that integrates into Web3 applications, Atoma’s privacy-preserving AI fits perfectly within Linera’s architecture, allowing applications to use AI inference without sacrificing decentralization.” said Mathieu Baudet, founder and CEO of Linera.

Whether it’s an AI model predicting market trends, automating governance in a DAO, or executing financial transactions based on external signals, this partnership ensures that AI operates with both trust and efficiency.  This partnership is a crucial step toward making AI-driven blockchain applications more accessible and powerful.

About Linera

Linera is the first L1 blockchain for hyper-connected, real-time applications. Linera was founded with the vision to empower users with globally accessible, decentralized technology that unlocks real-time onchain experience and simplifies interoperability across blockchains and off-chain services. Its unique architecture lets users interact directly with small chains of blocks, called “microchains”. This allows applications to read and write onchain data with strong guarantees of performance and security, for any number of active users. Founder and CEO, Mathieu Baudet, PhD, was an early research engineer on the Meta Libra/Novi project and is a coauthor of the FastPay protocol.
