We’re excited to introduce the Linera Markets Testnet, a weekly competition cadence designed to stress-test the network, reward active participation, and surface real skill in fast, onchain decision-making.
This post walks through how the testnet works, how competitions are structured, and how you can earn rewards by participating. Points earned as rewards for participation will directly influence how your mainnet behavior will be considered for TGE.
🎯 Our Goal
The primary goal of the testnet is simple:
Maximize the number of wallets using the application — and how often they use it.
To get there, we’ve designed the system to encourage:
Repeat engagement
Experimentation without fear of permanent loss
Consistent participation over time
All while keeping the system easy to understand and easy to run on a rolling basis.
🧱 Application Structure
GMIC Balances
Every user starts each competition with 1,000 GMIC
GMIC balances reset to 1,000 at the start of every competition
GMIC acts as your prediciting capital and fluctuates based on performance
This ensures every competition starts on equal footing.
Daily Login Bonus
Earn +10 GMIC for each subsequent day you log in during a competition
This helps:
Encourage daily participation
Ensure users can keep playing even after losses
Maintain activity throughout the week
⏱️ Competition Format
Competitions run in fixed weekly cycles
You can join at any point during the week
When a competition ends:
A new one begins immediately
Leaderboards and GMIC balances reset
This creates a steady rhythm of fresh starts and new opportunities.
🏆 Leaderboards & Cash Prizes
There are two primary leaderboards, each rewarding a different type of skill.
GMIC Balance Leaderboard
Rankings are based on your final GMIC balance at the end of the week
Everyone starts with the same amount of GMIC
Performance during that week determines your rank
Prize Pool: $2,000 USDC
Rank | Prize |
|---|---|
1st | $750 |
2nd | $500 |
3rd | $300 |
4th | $150 |
5th | $100 |
6th | $75 |
7th | $50 |
8th | $40 |
9th | $25 |
10th | $10 |
Winning Streak Leaderboard
This leaderboard rewards sustained accuracy.
Rankings are based on the longest consecutive winning streak across all markets
Streaks are determined by prediction order, not by market:
Each prediction is evaluated in the sequence it was placed
A loss resets the streak
Prize Pool: $500 USDC
Awarded to the user with the longest winning streak
If multiple users tie, the prize is split evenly
This leaderboard rewards precision and discipline, not just volume.
⭐ Portal Points: Long-Term Rewards
In addition to cash prizes, participants earn Portal Points, which track long-term participation and performance across competitions.
Portal Points are:
Permanent
Additive
Carried across competition cycles
They are earned through activity, consistency, and competitive success.
Base Earning (Activity)
0.05 Portal Points for every settled prediction
This rewards on-chain activity without letting pure volume dominate.
Daily Streak Bonuses (Consistency)
Settle at least 15 predictions in a day to unlock a daily streak
Once unlocked, you earn points equal to your streak length:
Day 1: +1 point
Day 2: +2 points
Day 3: +3 points
And so on…
This encourages daily engagement throughout the week.
Performance Bonuses (Per Competition)
At the end of each competition, users earn one-time Portal Point bonuses based on how they rank on the GMIC Balance Leaderboard. This may be adjusted for subsequent tournaments.
Percentile | Tier | Bonus Points |
|---|---|---|
Top 1% | Diamond | +1,000 |
Top 5% | Platinum | +600 |
Top 20% | Gold | +350 |
Top 50% | Silver | +150 |
Bottom 50% | Bronze | +50 |
Winning Streak Bonuses
Additional bonuses are awarded at the end of the competition based on your ranking on the Winning Streak Leaderboard. This may be adjusted for subsequent tournaments.
Percentile | Tier | Bonus Points |
|---|---|---|
Top 1% | Diamond | +1,000 |
Top 5% | Platinum | +600 |
